Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) - Regional Plans

In 2008 the then Culture Minister, Margaret Hodge, announced the outcomes of
a review of the delivery of regional priorities relating to culture and
sport.

This review gave the Arts Council England, English Heritage, Sport England
and MLA a duty to work together to deliver four shared priorities. These
are:

         Regional Strategies;

         Local government engagement;

         Liaison with LOCOG over the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and
the Cultural Olympiad; and

         Place Shaping.

In each English region (except London) the four agencies have produced a
plan setting out how they will deliver commitments under these priorities.
These plans describe how MLA will be working jointly with its partners, and
which partner will be the lead for particular areas of work. See the MLA
website at http://www.mla.gov.uk/what/strategies/regional_plans for more
details.
