As I mentioned a few weeks ago at the Federation AGM, I was approaching
the National Assembly of Wales for permission to launch an online
petition regarding the Saturday closure of the NLW from the 1st of April
2009. I appreciate that we all have different experiences of the
service provided by the NLW, and I have had my own share since I
started regularly researching there from the mid 1990's onwards, but I
would ask you to lay your prejudices aside and sign the petition at
http://www.assemblywales.org/index.htm under E pettions. You do need to
register but it is a painless procedure.
One concern that has been raised about the Saturday closure is that it
is the thin edge of a wedge to restrict Free access to Archives in Wales
let alone the United  Kingdom.
